Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health, Kuala Lumpur (APACPH-KL) was established on the 17 September 2013 as a non-governmental organization (NGO) under Malaysian Registrar of Society (PPM-007-14-17092013). It is part of the international Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH) which has 96 members institutions from 22 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The aim of establishing the Malaysian branch of the APACPH is to further promote the cooperation in teaching, research and practice of public health among individuals and institutions within Malaysia. There are currently 11 APACPH Member Institutions in Malaysia. APACPH-KL membership is open to individual members from the APACPH Member Institutions and also to any interested public health academics and practitioners residing or working in Malaysia.

The academics from the APACPH Member Institutions in Malaysia has been active in the APACPH.  In 2011-2013, former University of Malaya Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tan Sri Dr Amin Bin Jamaludin became the president of APACPH where he had moved APACPH secretariat office from the University of Hawaii to the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, UM which at the same time was Headed by Prof Dr Maznah Dahlui, currently Prof Maznah is the APACPH Vice President Administration (2017-2021).

Other academics includes Prof Low Wah Yun as APACPH President-Elect (2017-2019) and Prof Dr Victor Hoe as APACPH Web Master. The secretariat for the Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health (ISI IF 1.013) is also located in the University of Malaya, Malaysia, where Prof Dr Low Wah Yun is the Editor in Chief.

The APACPH Member Institutions in Malaysia also organised and hosted many of the annual APACPH Conferences. The 50th APACPH Conference was held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 2019, hosted by the Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
